Projects worked on:
AI Chatbot Developer
BESHTE: A Chatbot to enhance HIV testing, status awareness, and status disclosure among adolescent boys and girls in Kenya.
It was an 18-month project targeting adolescents and young adults from four secondary day schools from Embu and Murang’a and two universities. The project was on developing a chatbot that would respond to HIV-related queries. Additionally, the chatbot language was customized to slang (sheng); a language that adolescents and young adults can relate to.
Akili Bora: A Mental Health Mobile Application for depression and suicidal behavior prevention, early detection, and response among youths.
This is an ongoing project through the Akili Innovative Synergy Hub where an app is developed to aid in handling mental health issues among the youths. The app comprises several elements such as a mental health screening test and a chatbot that would hand users queries 24/7 concerning their mental health.
Depression Assessment
Assessment of depression in social media platform
This project targeted to get social media data from Twitter concerning mental health and gain insights into what people were saying. It was implemented through machine learning and data analytics by identifying the most common words used for depression and using various algorithms to create models used in testing user data and help to classify if the data given classified the user as depressed or not.
Chatbot Analysis
Mental Health Mobile Chatbots Analysis
This is a currently ongoing project for my Master’s where I have to mine user reviews of various mobile mental health chatbot apps used in the Google Play Store. The main aim is to utilize machine learning to identify positive or negative sentiments from user reviews. The goal is to contribute to the community by gaining insights into how AI agents are viewed as assistants in helping manage mental health issues.
